Alibaba’s Platform Governance Team Reports Rights-Protection Progress



Alibaba Group’s Platform Governance department is responsible for maintaining a fair and lawful business environment throughout the company’s e-commerce marketplaces—making it the first line of defense against cheating merchants, poor-quality goods, the sale of counterfeits and other deceptive business practices that undermine trust between buyers and sellers.

Overseeing hundreds of millions of retailers and consumers that use Alibaba platforms and enforcing the platform rules is a big job, one that Platform Governance is continuously learning how to do better. To chronicle its progress, the department publishedits 2016annual report detailing the latest strategies and technologies used to combat bad business practices as well as Alibaba’s cooperation with law enforcement, government agencies and industry groups to foster orderly e-commerce markets and protect the rights of intellectual property holders.
