China Wine Trends: Red Over White, French Above All



In China, consumers’ taste for wine leans toward rouge, and overwhelmingly so. Among wine drinkers in the world’s second-largest economy, 80 percent, in fact, prefer red over white. And when it comes to imported vino, France is by far the favorite, accounting for 46.2 percent of all the wine shipped to China. (Although other wine exporters, notably those in Italy and the U.S., are making a push to grab a larger piece of the Chinese market.)
