Cainiao Network Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most-Innovative Companies for 2021

Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most-Innovative Companies for 2021. Cainiao ranked ninth in the Asia-Pacific region on the list, which honors businesses that have not only found a way to be resilient in the past year, but also turned those challenges into impact-making processes. “In a year of unprecedented challenges, the companies on this list exhibit fearlessness, ingenuity, and creativity in the face of crisis,” said Fast Company Deputy Editor David Lidsky, who oversaw the issue with Senior Editor Amy Farley.

Lazada Launches Annual Initiative to Celebrate Female Entrepreneurship 

Lazada, Alibaba’s flagship e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, launched its inaugural Lazada Forward Women Awards on International Women’s Day to celebrate female leadership and entrepreneurship. Six women who are also Lazada sellers received awards for their resilience and innovation. They are Anne Ong (Singapore), Annie Chia (Malaysia), Georgianna Carlos (Philippines), Hanna Suhardi (Indonesia), Lalilla Thamnita (Thailand) and Pham Thi Xuan Hong (Vietnam). The winners were recognized for their achievement in the e-commerce space, despite personal and cultural obstacles. “I am honored to be amongst such inspirational women today. You found interesting and unique ways to leverage the Lazada platform to not only establish your online business, but also to engage customers and build a niche following while uplifting the lives around you. Lazada is proud to be your partner and have the opportunity to be part of your successful journey,” said Li Chun, Lazada Group CEO during the livestreamed awards ceremony.

New Podcast from Alibaba Spotlights Aussie and Kiwi Founders 

Alibaba Australia & New Zealand’s new 10-episode podcast program, “The Build Up,” sets out to demystify the entrepreneurial journey for people looking to build their own businesses. It brings in young entrepreneurs and top executives at Alibaba to share their stories and advice on digitizing in the Covid era. The Build Up’s first episode launched on Feb. 24, featuring Maeva Heim, the founder of Bread Beauty Supply, with new interviews released each Wednesday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and on the Peers Project website.
