This week, we spotlight Alibaba Cloud’s expanding AI leadership and its role in driving digital transformation in Asia. Highlights include the launch of Qwen3-Embedding model series, GoTo Financial’s migration to Alibaba Cloud in Indonesia, and Alibaba Cloud’s GraphScope Flex setting a new global benchmark in graph computing performance.
Alibaba Cloud Introduces Qwen3-Embedding Series, Setting New Standards for Multilingual Text Embedding
Alibaba Cloud has launched the Qwen3-Embedding series, a powerful new lineup of proprietary embedding models built on Qwen3. Optimized for multilingual text retrieval, these models deliver best-in-class performance in text embedding and reranking tasks across major benchmarks.
Now open-sourced on Hugging Face, GitHub, and Alibaba’s ModelScope, the models are available in three parameter sizes—0.6B, 4B, and 8B—and are also accessible via API through Alibaba Cloud’s Model Studio platform.

An embedding model converts unstructured data—such as handwritten text—into structured numerical representations, uncovering hidden patterns and relationships within large datasets. Excelling in pattern analysis and recognition, the models can help to improve operational efficiency, enhance scalability, and increase the accuracy of AI-generated responses.
Trained using contrastive and supervised methods, the Qwen3-Embedding series supports 119 languages and dialects and excels in long-text understanding, reasoning, and semantic clustering. Key applications include real-time sentiment analysis in customer service calls, personalized product recommendations in e-commerce, efficient code navigation for software development, and enhanced multilingual translation systems.
GoTo and Alibaba Cloud Complete Cloud Migration for GoTo Financial
GoTo Group, the largest digital ecosystem in Indonesia, and Alibaba Cloud announced the successful migration of GoTo Financial’s core infrastructure to Alibaba Cloud’s Jakarta data centers in Indonesia. It is one of the most technically complex cloud migrations in Indonesia to date.
GoTo Financial, which operates the leading Indonesian payment service GoPay, supports over 20 million monthly transacting users. The migration, part of a strategic partnership formed in September 2024, ensures high availability and resilience for GoPay’s digital payment services.
The companies co-developed a full-stack technical solution, enabling seamless business continuity and minimal disruption to users. The move to Alibaba Cloud’s secure, high-performance infrastructure is expected to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service efficiency for millions of GoPay users.
Looking ahead, GoTo and Alibaba Cloud plan to expand their collaboration through new commercial initiatives, empowering Indonesian businesses and supporting the country’s digital economy.
Alibaba Cloud’s GraphScope Flex Doubles Global Record in Graph Computing Benchmark
Alibaba Cloud’s graph computing engine, GraphScope Flex, has nearly doubled the previous world record for graph query performance, achieving 80,510 queries per second on the Linked Data Benchmark Council Social Network Benchmark (LDBC SNB) Interactive declarative query track – setting a new industry high.

The LDBC SNB simulates a Facebook-like social graph, serving as a rigorous test for both functionality and speed in graph processing. GraphScope Flex’s performance leap is driven by innovations in computing, storage, and scheduling, along with its self-developed GOpt Optimization Framework – recognized by SIGMOD 2025 for its advances in graph query optimization.
This milestone reflects Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to open-source innovation and enterprise-grade performance. GraphScope Flex is already powering solutions in financial risk management, cybersecurity, and social network analysis.
