Spoiler Alert: We Know How This Movie About Jack Ma Ends

Want to get a glimpse of Alibaba Group and founder Jack Ma’s earlier days? Check out this trailer for a new movie.

Jack Ma’s Alibaba Group dominates Chinese e-commerce, but not too many years ago companies like Taobao and Alipay were not much more than a twinkle in Ma’s eye. To chronicle what Alibaba Group was like in earlier days, former employee Porter Erisman mined company video archives to produce a documentary, Crocodile in the Yangtze: A Westerner Inside China’s Alibaba.com. The film, which focuses on Taobao’s successful struggle to beat eBay in China, hasn’t been released, but you can get a glimpse of what it’s all about by watching the trailer below. Worth a peek. As Tech in Asia blogger Steven Millward said: “Seeing Jack Ma rise from a trapdoor dressed in a manga-punk outfit while thousands of supporters cheer sure does make a Steve Jobs keynote look more like a Catholic Sunday mass.”
